Koh Lipe

04

Before reaching Koh Lipe we had a 1 night stay on Koh Lanta booked to break up the boat journey from the Phi Phi Islands. The parts we saw of the island were beautiful; a beach bar that made amazing frozen margaritas and the beach said bar was located on, long beach. We headed back to our hotel that evening a bit tipsy after stopping for a tightrope walk that may have resulted in a sandy bum for Sophie.

The speedboat journey to Koh Lipe was 3 hours which, you’d think after the amount of tequila I consumed the night before would have been awful, but we have found the best seats that provide optimal sea breeze with no spray from the sea (I had learnt from my mistakes on the way to Phi Phi) so I found the trip went pretty quick. Once we arrived at the tiny pier of Koh Lipe island we quickly fell in love with crystal clear water and the softest, white sand we had felt between our toes yet. We spent the day on the beach and saved exploring the walking street for our second night. After only 2 days we decided to book another 2 nights as we had discovered an amazing restaurant called The Box and we felt there was still so much more to explore! Those 2 days flew by as we were soaking up the sunshine and not doing much else. And after 4 visits total to our favourite restaurant we agreed to book a further 3 nights (taking us to a grand total of 7 nights) stay with a promise to try some different restaurants on the island. Although Koh Lipe is small it has quite a few beaches, we had spent all of our time so far on Pattaya Beach where our first two hotels were located. So once in our third and final hotel we decided to head to sunset beach for cocktails one evening and enjoyed the beautiful view, that evening ended with sangria back at The Box and a quick bite before heading to bed for an early night. The early night didn’t help much as I still had to drag Harry out of bed at 5:45am to catch the sun at sunrise beach. Don’t worry a nap was had after we watched the sun come up, thank god for AC and black out curtains. This was our last day on Koh Lipe and still feeling adventurous we walked to another new beach for us, North beach. We definitely saved the best till last and the views alone made leaving Koh Lipe very difficult, so with promises to come back soon we started our very long journey to Koh Samui…
